Anniversary Vibes: Virginia Beach Is Where Lovers Stay

We just got back from the most incredible anniversary vacation right here in Virginia Beach, and wow—what an experience! From breathtaking views to a remarkable stay at the Embassy Suites Oceanfront, everything about this trip was pure romance.

Like I always say, Virginia Beach is where lovers stay—and we stand on that. We’ve stayed at plenty of places around the 757, but the Embassy Suites has officially taken the top spot. From the warm welcome as soon as we walked through the doors to the sweet surprise of wine and chocolate-covered strawberries from the management, it felt like love was truly in the air—on purpose.

We celebrated 16 beautiful years of marriage from April 22nd to the 25th, just before the beach started buzzing with the weekend crowd. The ambiance of the Embassy Suites is unmatched—lush decor, soft jazz playing in the background, a gentle ocean breeze, and a calm elegance that wraps around you like a warm hug. Every detail felt intentional.

The hotel’s design mirrors the gorgeous layout of the neighboring Marriott and brings the ocean inside with wave-shaped fixtures and boardwalk-style floors. It’s elegant, coastal, and fresh—exactly the aesthetic Jet Set Black aims to embody. They also pay homage to the historic Cavalier Hotel on the same campus, where legends like Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald (who hailed from Newport News!), and Louis Armstrong once stayed. It’s romantic, jazzy, and classy in all the right ways.

The staff? Absolutely amazing. Every single person we encountered was kind, thoughtful, and genuinely welcoming, especially Chris. And let’s talk about that breakfast—five stars. The grits alone? Worth waking up early for. Trust me.

The pool setup was just as impressive. Both the indoor and outdoor pools are relaxing and romantic, and the outdoor lounge by the beach? A total masterpiece. The way the property allows you to explore between the Embassy Suites , The Marriot and the Cavalier makes the entire experience feel seamless and luxurious.

Our only regret? Not getting those massages at the Cavalier we kept promising each other—but hey, that just gives us a reason to come back!
