Field Trips and Achievements with our favorite Professor Stacey Shiflet

Grateful for the leadership and mentorship of Stacey Shiflet, an exceptional Hospitality Management professor with nearly 35 years of industry experience spanning hotel operations and education.

Over the past two years, she consistently bridged classroom learning with real-world application by introducing students to the full scope of hospitality through hands-on field trips, volunteer opportunities, and industry exposure across Hampton Roads. From large-scale events like Monster Jam to regional culinary traditions such as the She-Crab Soup Festival, she ensured we understood hospitality not just as a concept, but as a living, local industry.

Her ability to stay connected to what’s happening in the region and bring students directly into those experiences has been invaluable. These moments shaped our understanding, strengthened our confidence, and prepared us for what hospitality truly looks like in practice.
